Claw Settings: 4 Claws vs. 6 Claws

← Back to Our Blog

The 4 claw setting is the most popular and traditional number of claws to set a brilliant round cut diamond. The 6-claw is a variation of the 4-claw setting design. The extra claws can make the stone look rounder compared to the 4-claw setting. This is a slightly more detailed setting that adds more of a contemporary look. Most people prefer the 4 claw setting not because there is less metal to distract from your stone. This also makes your diamond more sturdy and secure. The reason for this is simply because 4 prong settings are thicker than 6 prongs would be.
