Donna and Greg came into the store the other day and shared the story of how her beautiful  pendant (that Jeff created with Greg) came to be. Donna explained the sentiment behind the beautiful piece of jewellery which is in the shape of a lake with the Iron Man logo cut out in the middle.

In the world of Iron Man triathlons, it has become a badge of honour to have a tattoo inked upon one’s body symbolizing his/her accomplishment upon completing this race. The race consists of completing a 2.4-mile swim, a 112 mile bicycle ride and a 26.22 mile run – raced in that order without a break.

Generally a participant will get some version of the Iron Man logo inked on a part of their body,  to reflect their superhuman status.   Well, not everyone is a tattoo-type person.  So, a piece of jewellery is another way to symbolize this truly amazing accomplishment.  And that’s precisely what Greg, Donna’s boyfriend, surprised her with upon her triathlon completion.

Donna explains that in the summer of 2018, she wanted to complete her first triathlon competition.  To prepare for such a feat, she routinely swam around the lake at her cottage.  The lake is approximately 1.2 km. long, but the swim portion of the triathlon is 4 km.  So Donna was creative and proceeded to zigzag across the lake to gradually increase her swimming distance.

Needless to say, when Donna was triumphant in completing her first triathlon, Greg decided to surprise her with a custom pendant.  From conception to completion, Jeff was able to support Greg in his vision for this very special piece of jewellery.

Greg  admired Donna’s determination and recalls the many times they viewed that lake with what appeared to be diamonds glistening from its waters.  And so, it came to be, that the pendant would take the shape of Lake Healy in Bracebridge and the diamonds would reflect the glistening waters that Donna regularly swam through to complete her challenge.

In addition, the 35 diamonds on the pendant symbolize the age of 53 (35 is the reverse of 53) which is the age that Donna completed this significant event.

We are so glad that Donna wears her pendant proudly to symbolize a very special accomplishment in her life.  We are even more proud that we could help Greg realize his vision.  In working with Jeff, Greg was able to adorn his  girlfriend with a very special, one-of-a-kind custom piece that will forever be cherished by both of them.
